Kayaking Equipment To Keep You Safe As Well As To Make
Kayaking More Enjoyable
There are a number of different pieces of kayaking equipment
that can be used in kayaking and these include dry bags and containers,
helmets, air bags & buoyancy bags, rescue equipment, throw lines & tow
lines, skull caps, gloves & mitts, kayak compasses, fish finders and a
whole bunch of other related items. As with other sporting goods, there are
many different sellers and manufacturers as well retail outlets that also
include online stores for buying your kayaking equipment. There are also a lot
of different models available for each individual item of kayaking equipment
and so one may need to spend some time trying out various items before deciding
on the one that best suits individual needs.
Backrests, Thigh Straps, Paddle Leash, Paddle Clips And
Kayak Anchors
One can begin with kayaking equipment such as the Ocean
Kayak Comfort Backrest which is very comfortable to use by paddlers who spend a
lot of time in their boats and the backrest is made from durable rubber
material and attaches to the kayak using clips as well as deck mounted eyelets.
When sitting atop the kayak, one may need kayaking equipment to provide more
control and for this one may need thigh straps which are also sometimes referred
to as leg straps and these thigh straps make the task of surfing a lot easier
as one sits on top of the kayak and facilitates more control when in choppy
waters.
Very often, one may lose the paddle while kayaking and, in
order to prevent this from happening, one may use another piece of kayaking
equipment called the paddle leash which is a four foot paddle leash that
connects the paddle with the boat and is used by simply slip-knotting the
elastic loop to the kayak and also attaching the leash to the paddle with a
Velcro strip.
When not worried about losing the paddles, one may also need
to think a bit about storing the paddles along with the kayak and for this one
may use a piece of kayaking equipment called the paddle clips which are used to
attach to the side of any sit-on-top to store the paddle, when it is not being
used. These paddle clips can also be used to store fishing rods and they can be
attached to the boat by using rivets, which come along with the pack. Another
piece of kayaking equipment is the Ocean Kayak Anchor which is a cast aluminum
anchor that is collapsible and so easy to store in a small place and is great
for snorkeling or fishing or just to keep the kayak in one place.
